If you've been too busy playing Pendulumania to take part in this year's Ars Technica Charity Drive sweepstakes , don't worry. You still have time to donate to a good cause and get a chance to win your share of over $2,500 worth of swag (no purchase necessary to win).

So far, in the first three days of the drive, over 100 readers have contributed over $8,500 to either the Electronic Frontier Foundation or Child's Play as part of the charity drive (EFF is now leading in the donation totals by about $2,000). That's a long way off from 2020's record haul of over $58,000 , but there's still plenty of time until the Charity Drive wraps up on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

That doesn't mean you should put your donation off, though. Do yourself and the charities involved a favor and give now while you're thinking about it.

The Paws and Claws DLC for Children of Morta raises over $130,000 for charity

      Liam Dawe · news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Monday, 17 May, 2021 - 10:39 · 1 minute

Paws and Claws, a pretty wholesome DLC for the fantastic and stylish Children of Morta has managed to raise a rather nice lump sum for charity.

"We have a piece of truly wonderful and heartwarming news for you today! The Paws and Claws charity DLC has proven to be a huge success and ever since its launch, we've been able to raise MORE than $130K for animals worldwide!" - Dead Mage & 11 bit studios

Not an essential DLC for the game by any measure, and it's a completely different experience to the main game overall. However, it's just so wonderful that you should probably buy it anyway. It adds in an animal shelter system, a herd of various animals to visit you, a new treats mechanic for animals, animal-related character boosts and quite a bit more. 100% of the proceeds of Paws and Claws goes to the Humane Society International (HSI) .

The developer confirmed the figure is PC platforms and Consoles combined for the total. Considering the low £2.99 / $3.99 / 3,99€ price - it means it's sold quite a number of copies.

You can buy Children of Morta from GOG , Humble Store and Steam . We can easily recommend it.

Humble Bundle plan to put the much loved sliders back on bundle pages

      Liam Dawe · news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Wednesday, 5 May, 2021 - 17:25 · 1 minute

After a bit of an uproar from customers, Humble Bundle have decided to ditch their idea of replacing sliders that let people customize where their money goes.

In their original blog post, they mentioned the sliders that let you adjust the amount you give to Humble, Developers, Charity and Partners would be replaced with a static two-tier system that was giving a lot more to Developers and Humble. Now though, in a fresh blog post they're backtracking.

Today, we’ll be turning sliders back on for all customers on our bundle pages while we take more time to review feedback and consider sliders and the importance of customization for purchases on bundle pages in the long term.

It seems they've learned the hard way that rolling out big changes to their original business model, while they're a smaller store isn't going to cut it without a lot more thought put into it. The new bundle page style is still going to be rolling out that they showed off previously, but it will still have sliders.

Some things will still change in future though by the sounds of it, as they will be "exploring different approaches to the sliders and how splits work, along with new ways to incorporate charity into other parts of the user experience" but they will be sharing more and gathering feedback in future instead of just doing it.

As a Humble Bundle Partner, we're glad to see that they're willing to listen.
