News breaks of surprise cameo as Warner Bros. drops final The Flash trailer

      news.movim.eu / ArsTechnica · Wednesday, 24 May, 2023 - 18:48 · 1 minute

Warner Bros has dropped the final trailer for The Flash , coming to theaters on June 16, 2023.

We have one last trailer for The Flash in advance of the film's release on June 16, 2023. Its release coincides with some spoiler-y casting news. Apparently director Andy Muschietti spilled the beans about a surprise cameo in the forthcoming film, according to Variety (huge spoiler at link)—much to the annoyance of some fans.

(Some spoilers below and one major reveal toward the end. We'll give you another heads up when we get there.)

As previously reported , earlier scripts focused on adapting the Flashpoint crossover storyline from the comic books, in which the Scarlet Speedster goes back in time to keep his mother from being murdered, thereby altering the entire timeline. In that alternate world, a young Bruce Wayne is killed rather than his parents. Thomas Wayne becomes Batman, Martha Wayne becomes the Joker, Wonder Woman and Aquaman are bitter enemies, and Superman is a prisoner. Muschietti kept several of the Flashpoint story elements while acknowledging that this would be a different version. And he wanted to include not just Michael Keaton's Batman but Ben Affleck's, too, since he thought Barry's relationship with the latter would make Keaton's inclusion even more powerful.

Wonder Woman 1984 is fun, but doesn’t quite capture magic of its predecessor

      Jennifer Ouellette · news.movim.eu / ArsTechnica · Saturday, 26 December, 2020 - 00:10

Count me among the many millions who likely logged onto HBO Max on Christmas Day to watch Wonder Woman 1984 , Director Patty Jenkins' hotly anticipated, oft-delayed stand-alone follow-up to her 2017 global blockbuster, Wonder Woman . I'm a major fan of the latter, which gave us our super-powered Amazonian's origin story, and had high hopes for the follow-up.

Those hopes weren't completely dashed, but they weren't really fulfilled either. While Wonder Woman 1984 still has a bit of the old magic, and its leads all turn in terrific performances, the film is hampered by a frequently nonsensical plot, extraneous showy action sequences, and it's way too heavy-handed with the moralizing. But it still delivers quite a lot of slick, 1980s-infused fun if you turn your brain off and just go with it—and you'll definitely want to stick around for a post-credits scene.

(Some spoilers below, with a couple of major spoilers below the second gallery. We'll give you a heads up when we get there.)

Zack Snyder drops B&W updated version of trailer for Justice League miniseries

      Jennifer Ouellette · news.movim.eu / ArsTechnica · Tuesday, 17 November, 2020 - 21:59 · 1 minute

There's not much new footage in this black-and-white version of the trailer for ZackSnyder's Justice League , but at least the music rights issues have been resolved.

Fans eagerly awaiting the debut of Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max next year were thrilled to hear that a new trailer was coming today to mark the third anniversary of the theatrical cut's release. They're probably feeling a teensy bit cheated right now, since what dropped was actually an updated black-and-white version of the teaser trailer from the virtual DC FanDome event in August—although the eagle-eyed viewer will spot a few seconds of new footage. But at least Snyder also provided a virtual breakdown of said trailer during a livestreaming event on Vero.

The August trailer had been removed from YouTube earlier this month because of contested music rights issues—the trailer was set to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." Now those issues have been resolved , and Snyder marked the occasion with this latest black-and-white offering, Cohen soundtrack intact. (You can watch the full-color version here.)

Apparently, Snyder's ideal vision for Justice League would be a black-and-white IMAX version. "That, to me, is the most fan-centric, most pure, most Justice League experience, because that’s how I lived with the movie for two years, in black-and-white," he told The Film Junkee in a recent interview.

HBO Max drops first trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League

      Jennifer Ouellette · news.movim.eu / ArsTechnica · Sunday, 23 August, 2020 - 00:58

The first teaser for Zack Snyder's Justice League is set to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."

Fans who have been clamoring to see Zack Snyder's director's cut of the disappointing 2017 film, Justice League , will finally get their wish, as HBO Max released a two-minute trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League during the virtual DC Fandome event. The trailer actually leaked online before the panel, but was quickly pulled until the official release.

(Some spoilers for the 2017 Justice League below.)

The original Justice League was the third film in a trilogy that included Man of Steel (2013) and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). It brought together Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). They are on a mission to save the world from arch-villain Steppenwolf, a New God in search of three "Mother Boxes" that will enable him to terraform the Earth into something more hospitable to him and his army of Parademons.
