      Aktueller Stand zur Jahresendveranstaltung

      nd · pubsub.movim.eu / CCCEvent · Monday, 3 May, 2021 - 08:00 · 1 minute

    English version below

    Stay tuned.

    English version:

Status of the Event at the End of 2021

TL;DR: We’re trying to make an on-site event happen. There will be, in any case, an online part. More info later in the year.

It’s an early time in the year, especially for blogpost regarding the congress. Nevertheless we want to inform you about our plans regarding an event end of the year. Even it’s not clear how an event end of 2021 could be like, we are going to try to make an on-site event happen at the usual time of the year. If this will be possible is not sure at this point.

Nevertheless, there will be an online part.

We’re optimistic that we’ll have more information for you at the end of summer (August/September). As soon as we have, you’ll find it here on the CCC Events Blog.

    Stay tuned.

      DiVOC: Call for Dingsbums

      ST · pubsub.movim.eu / CCCEvent · Monday, 8 March, 2021 - 17:31 · 3 minutes

    [ English Version below ]

    tl;dr

    Call for Maps

Call for Self Organized Sessions (SOS)

    Call for Angels

Ihr benötigt Engel? Dann meldet Euch bitte im RocketChat-Raum: #r2r-heaven.

Ihr möchtet uns als Engel helfen? Dann meldet Euch bitte hier an: https://himmel.hacc.earth

    Merch

    DiVOC: Call for Watchamacallit

    tl;dr:

We’re looking for sessions, angels, and maps. To make the first DiVOC this year a full success, we need three things: angels, self-organized sessions, and maps. Therefor, here are three calls in one. And we have merch !

    Call for Maps

The rC3 world was great, and for r2r we’d like to continue it on a smaller scale, so r2r will have a lobby. If you’d like to contribute one or more maps and hook them up to the lobby, please mail us at welt@diese-welt-ist-schlecht.de . Please let us know your hack space/group/project, the link your map is hosted at, and the start layer we should be linking to. We’ll add your map and the link you need to place in your map to return to the lobbry here .

Obviously, there is no limited to your creativity, whether you are recreating your hack space, reuse your rC3 map, or create something new – everything is welcome!

If you have a Jitsi or BBB room in your map as a meeting place, please also add this to the wiki as a self-organized session or meeting place, respectively, since not all participants can or would like to get there through the world.

If you need some inspiration, you will find are preview of the lobby and its tile set here:

    Call for Self-Organized Sessions

Of course we’re having self-organized session at this DiVOC as well. Please add your session to this wiki page, as per usual: ( https://di.c3voc.de/sessions-liste ).

    Call for Angels

You need the support of angels for your team? Then please contact heaving through RocketChat in #r2r-heaven.

You would like to help out as an angel? Then register here: https://himmel.hacc.earth

    Merch

For the fashion-conscious participants there will be merch again this year. T-shirts, hoodies, zippers, shorts & sweatpants are available in the R2R design.
This year also with t-shirts and zippers for the young hackers.

      ST · pubsub.movim.eu / CCCEvent · Monday, 1 March, 2021 - 16:54 · 2 minutes

    [ English Version below ]

    euer Eventphone Team

Free long distance calls at Easter

It’s been exactly one year since the pandemic crashed our party. The DiVOC (german: Digital Verteiltes Online-Chaos, means Digital Distributed Online Chaos) will be celebrating its first anniversary under the motto Reboot to Respawn (R2R) and will allow us to have a place on the net to meet and exchange ideas. Framed from Good Friday to Easter Monday (02.04. – 05.04.2021) with a program of talks, art and music.  :-)

To ensure that you can communicate undisturbed and unwatched as usual, there will be again a telephone infrastructure, which will technically correspond to that of the rC3. The registration of extensions is already open.

SIP , Announcement and Eventphone Decentralized DECT Infrastructure (EPDDI) will be available.

For Chaos Studios, Hackerspaces & Chaostreffs we provide a small number of RFPs (antennae). As always, we need reliable contact persons to take care of the shipping and to make sure that we get the antennas back safely after the event. If you want to run an EPDDI cell, please read the EPDDI documentation (currently only in german) and provide a suitable router. Than contact us at poc ‘at’ eventphone.de. The shipment will take place on 22.03.2021.

From 22.03.2021 at the latest, the telephone infrastructure will also be up and running.

We will communicate fluctuations in the operating process via Twitter .

    Have fun  and stay healthy,
    your Eventphone Team

Call For Participation: Reboot to Respawn (r2r) 2. bis 5. April 2021

      ST · pubsub.movim.eu / CCCEvent · Friday, 29 January, 2021 - 21:00 · 6 minutes

    [ English Version below ]

    tl;dr

Das erste DiVOC dieses Jahres, #r2r, findet Karfreitag bis Ostermontag (02.04. – 05.04.2021) statt.

    long read:

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

    Einreichungen

Euer Beitrag beim DiVOC Reboot to Respawn

Call For Participation: Reboot to Respawn (r2r) (2nd – 5th of April 2021)

    tl;dr

This year’s first DiVOC, the #r2r, will be taking place from Good Friday to Easter Monday, 2nd – 5th of April 2021. Practical solutions for the ongoing climate and social crisis will be the main topics, however, as always, we also appreciate talks on cultural and technical topics. Saturday, 27th February will be the absolute deadline for entries. Entries only via an account in pretalx under: https://pretalx.c3voc.de/divoc-reboot-to-respawn-2021/cfp

    long read:

It is a very dangerous game we’re playing on our planet, and although we seem to realize, at least from time to time, that we’re destroying the planet, we still keep pressing “continue”. The media are only talking about the pandemic and if and when the next vaccinations are due. At the same time the general impression is that if only this pandemic was over then everything would be just fine again. But we know better: The Climate Crisis is looming large, and it’s a much greater danger, for which there will be no vaccination available, whichever way, nor will any simple lockdown help. No, the only thing that will help is a full reboot – politically, economically, socially and culturally. We only have this one planet as our hardware, and our life support is running low.

To be honest, the argument if we should be doing something about this is concluded. What we need now is to talk about what to do, and when and how to do it. Which brings us to the theme of this Easter time DiVOC “Reboot to Respawn”.

Accordingly, we’re particularly looking forward to submissions that deal with tangible proposals. We’re talking social themes here, but also traffic and city planning, economy and work, the environment in general and the agroindustrial complex in particular, and which technical solutions we could use to hack them. And that includes, of course, art and cultural aspects, because we’re in need of those, too, so we’re also looking for submissions in this field.

And of course we’re still the Chaos, and part of our own culture are submissions on printers on fire, on blinking lights, on toots, tweets, honks and waving cats. Even in the darkest hours of the pandemic we want to have fun with our devices, we want to socialize and hack together and show each other the cool stuff we’ve been doing.

That goes particularly well with some good music, so give us your proposals and your music lists, so we can relax in the lounge or maybe do some after-work shakin’ …

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

    Talk and Music, Workshops

This CfP is only for talks, presentations and music that will be streamed as part of the talk and lounge programs. We’ll provide more information about other forms of participation, like self-organized sessions, interactive workshops, or whatever else you can think of, in a couple of days.

Your Contribution at DiVOC Reboot to Respawn

Your contribution will be streamed (live) by VOC . For talks we would like to have a live Q&A with you right after. Shortly after DiVOC, the recording of the talk will be made available for viewing and download on media.ccc.de . We therefor assume that you have all necessary rights for such publication.

    Submission Process

Due to the really tigh schedule you may only submit your paper after creating your own account on pretalx under this link . Submissions must contain a title, author name(s), contact details and, most important, a brief abstract. It will be possible to make minor edits to title and abstract until the full paper submission deadline. Sorry, but submissions with “placeholder” abstracts will be removed without consideration.

      rC3 Call for Subtitlers

      percidae · pubsub.movim.eu / CCCEvent · Wednesday, 6 January, 2021 - 16:18 · 3 minutes

    English version below

    C3Subtitles?!

Lass uns wissen, welche Talks dich interessieren!

    Was du dafür brauchst:

! Media kann das bereits: schau ab Minute 14 in media.ccc.de/v/rc3-11583-rc3_eroffnung .

    English Version:

    C3Subtitles?!

Have you been hit by lockdown, you’re bored and you are craving for more chaos event feeling? Are you sitting at home and watching recorded Talks from rC3 and past Chaos events?
Bring a little bit of rC3 to your home and help with improving quality and accessibility of the CCC recordings! You can work on the subtitles from the comfort of your home, as long or as short as you like to!

    How does this work?
The transcripts are generated automatically by speech recognition software and improved and corrected by you. Since talks contain lots of domain-specific terms and may have speakers with heavy accents, this is very much necessary. The next step is again automated: aligning the subtitles to the audio. Again, the result of this process is verified by you. Afterwards, the subtitles are finished!

For a more in-depth description and how-tos, take a look at c3subtitles Wiki. You can find the current status of any talk in our database on c3subtitles.de .

If you have any questions, contact us via any of the channels below!

You need subtitles? Let us know which talks you are interested in!

What if I want subtitles for a different stage?

You are part of an organisation / Erfa / Hackerspace (Chaos-West, WikiPaka, ChaosTrawler, Chaoszone, Sendezentrum, Bitwäscherei Zürich, c-base, hacc München, OIO, Chaosstudio – and all the others) which recorded and published videos during rC3?
And you would like to improve accessability of your talks via subtitles.
Send us a message via Rocket-Chat in #subtitles or another way, see below:
    What do you need:

    • A contact person for us,
    • A file containing a Fahrplan-File,
    • Publicly available videos, and
    • Motivation to take accessability into your own hands

(Spoiler: the faster you are, the higher the chance for automatically generated transcripts by Trint – we still have credits!)

By the way: With subtitles you can make the video content machines searchable! Search for this query on media: “war das perfekte Argument dabei..” ! Media can already do that: Check 14 minutes in on media.ccc.de/v/rc3-11583-rc3_eroffnung .

      Call for Interpreters: translate #rC3!

      sebalis · pubsub.movim.eu / CCCEvent · Friday, 18 December, 2020 - 11:04 · 4 minutes

    [Deutsche Version: unten]

If you are multilingual and fluent in German, English and maybe other languages, please consider joining the translation team.

We want to interpret ALL talks in the two main channels and content from other channels too, live and in real time. Our work is transmitted live in the streams, and recordings are published on CCC sites and YouTube. For each event we have two channels for interpreted content. In the first, German talks are interpreted into English, and vice versa. A second translation channel translates into languages other than English or German – what we do there depends on availability and on the interests of the group, and maybe on the specific event.

That is a lot of material to translate and in order to succeed, we need YOU. With the second channel, you have the chance to contribute in an even more special way if you can interpret into another interesting language (from English or German). We have mostly used French and Spanish up to now, but there were others and we are interested in variety, so let us know what you can offer – especially if you can bring along a few interpreters for the same target language. Sometimes we might even use the second channel for interesting things that are not (strictly) translations.

Don’t be shy. If you are uncertain whether you’re good enough, chances are that you’ll do just fine. We will try to look after you as best we can in these strange times.

Simply send an email to translate-subscribe(at)lists.ccc.de and write a quick intro to the mailing list after you’ve completed your subscription. Also sign up as a translation angel at https://engelsystem.de/rc3 and give the system permission to send you emails. Most importantly, join one of our online meetings.

You need a Mumble client to take part in our meetings and to do the actual work, so set this up as much as you can. Some details can be found at https://wiki.c3lingo.org/divoc . Then follow the mailing list for meeting announcements. This year we recommend that you join a meeting before day 0, but there will be an official kick-off on that day as well

So please, take this chance and help us bring rC3 to an even wider international audience.

Microposts can be found at on Twitter at @c3lingo and #c3t and  on Mastodon at chaos.social/@c3lingo – but don’t expect quicker answers there, our social media team is virtually dormant.

We look forward to welcoming you!

    [English version: above]

      #rC3: Neues Ticket-Kontingent

      trim · pubsub.movim.eu / CCCEvent · Tuesday, 8 December, 2020 - 11:01 · 2 minutes

    English version below

    TL;DR

    What the hack happened???

Insbesondere, nachdem anfangs die Stimmen laut waren, »not just another video conference« und »nee, online interessiert uns nicht«.

    [ENG]

    TL;DR
On Saturday, 12.12.2020 at 14:00 (Berlin, CET, UTC +01:00) we’ll launch an additional ticket contingent.
If a third round will be available, is currently not sure.
    Link to the ticket shop.

    What the hack happened???

To be honest, we didn’t expect this number of people willing to participate in #rC3 and subsequently clicking tickets. Especially since in the beginning many said »not just another video conference« or »nawh, online ain’t mine«. But obviously, rC3 was interesting enough to clear out our initial ticket contingent.

    Additional tickets

People worked hard in the past few days to ensure the event could be scaled up. Therefore we can give out more tickets. Release is on Saturday, December 12, 14:00 (Berlin, CET, UTC +01:00)
    Link to the ticket shop.

At this stage we’re not sure if a third round, will be possible. If so, we’ll announce it here on the events blog.

What do you need a ticket for?

The official streams and the releases are – as always – freely available on media.ccc.de. The tickets are needed for the logged-in-area. There you will have the possibility to interact with other participants, join workshops and self-organised sessions, see community-content like assemblies and their projects, find badges to collect and achieve, some surprises and the 2d-world.

Und wie immer gilt natürlich: Be excellent to each other!

DiVOC Push to Talk: Submit your session now!

tl;dr Interactive Online Event, September 4 to 6. CfP: Submissions , Wiki with all info: di.c3voc.de

During the past couple of months, we have increasingly moved our lives into cyberspace, where chaos is digitally distributed. We have gone on-line for events, streamed content and clicked on talk recordings.

There was lots of lecturing—now we are looking for more interaction: instead of just watching a stream, let’s go do cool stuff together!

From September 4-6 we will have the third Digitally Distributed Online Chaos, this time under the theme “Push to talk” .

The event will be streamed on media.ccc.de and participation is free of charge. As during the first DiVOC, the VOC is at the ready with their infrastructure to stream sessions from anywhere and enable participants to engage in exchange.

Now we want to fill the program with talks, ideas, discussion panels, art performances or other submissions! With slots of up to 75 minutes, we can try new and more interactive things.

There is also space for shorter pitches: in slots of 15 minutes, let’s experiment with interfaces of all sorts, tell each other about interesting discoveries, present exciting projects, and extend invitations to self-organised sessions, or do crazy things we might come up with.

We are collecting the proposed submissions here until August 14th .

For any questions about the implementation we are happy to help via e-mail .

Additionally, Digitally Distributed Online Chaos truly comes alive through self-organised sessions and impromptu flashes of inspiration!

In the wiki for the “Push to Talk” event, we provide all the details, including communication channels to fellow chaos creatures, and we will publish the schedule in time before the event.
@diC3voc@twitter.com and @dic3voc@chaos.social in the fediverse are keeping us posted about current developments.

So let’s go, and be excellent to each other!

      Aktueller Stand zum 37C3

      ST · pubsub.movim.eu / CCCEvent · Saturday, 6 June, 2020 - 00:49 · 2 minutes

    English version below

    Bleibt gesund!

    37C3: current status

TL;DR: We will probably know in October whether and how the Congress will take place in Leipzig this year.

    Dear Community.

This year so far has been a very chaotic one for most of us. The future, as we saw in March, can change faster than we would like to imagine. There is still half a year until the usual congress date, but because of our current situation and in order to prevent rumours, we want to be transparent this year, so that you can adapt to different situations.

The initial planning for a 37C3 has begun. After initial talks it became clear that Leipzig Trade Fair is the only reasonable option for us this year. This means that the 37C3 will take place in Leipzig – if it does as a physical event.

At the moment we cannot assess whether the 37C3 is feasible at all. Even if it should become legally possible, we know about the special responsibility towards our participants. In order to fulfil this responsibility, our CERT is involved in the evaluation of the situation.

We expect the situation to be clear enough by October at the latest to make a reasonable decision for this event. This explicitly means that we must keep all options open – including pushing back 37C3 to 2021. As soon as there is a final decision, it will be published on this blog as usual.

    Stay healthy, everybody!
