      Robert Pattinson is a broody Caped Crusader in first teaser for The Batman

    Robert Pattinson is the latest actor to don the iconic mask and cape in The Batman .

    Capping off a long day of sneak peeks, panels, and teaser trailers at DC FanDome this past weekend, Warner Bros. dropped the first teaser for The Batman , starring Robert Pattinson (of High Life and the Twilight franchise) in the title role. It's directed by Matt Reeves ( War for the Planet of the Apes ), and—surprise, surprise—it's another dark, gritty take on the classic superhero—this time with more of a film noir /detective story vibe.

    There is a long and tangled backstory to this latest incarnation of the classic comic book superhero. We all know that Ben Affleck was cast as Batman for a three-film trilogy in the DCEU: Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Suicide Squad (2016), and Justice League (2017), which had its own well-publicized production woes . Warner Bros. announced plans for a standalone Batman film in the fall of 2014, with Affleck set to reprise the role, as well as directing and co-writing the screenplay.

    The original plan was to set the film within the DCEU, after the events of Justice League . But as Warner Bros. was rethinking the shared-universe model for its superhero films in favor of standalone films and franchises, Affleck announced he was stepping down as director, and the studio replaced him with Reeves. Affleck would eventually withdraw from the project altogether, following his divorce from Jennifer Garner and a stint in rehab for alcohol abuse.

      Netflix : premières images de The Devil All The Time avec Tom Holland

    Si la programmation des cinémas est encore assez fébrile, Netflix intensifie ses efforts pour proposer de nouveaux films aux cinéphiles. La rentrée sera chargée pour la plateforme, qui dévoilera deux long-métrages très attendus. En plus de découvrir l’adaptation des romans Enola Holmes , les abonnés vont pouvoir retrouver Robert Pattinson ( Twilight ) et Tom Holland ( Spider-Man : Homecoming ) dans The Devil All The Time . À moins d’un mois et demi avant sa sortie, le film se dévoile dans de premières images où l’on aperçoit une bonne partie du casting. Sur les quelques clichés partagés par Netflix sur Twitter (ci-dessous), on retrouve Robert Pattinson dans ce qui ressemble fortement à une église. Rien de bien étonnant lorsque l’on sait qu’il incarnera un étrange pasteur dans le long-métrage. De son côté, Tom Holland jouera Arvin Russel, un jeune homme instable dont le père très croyant est prêt à tous les sacrifices pour sauver sa femme d’un cancer. S’ajoutent à cette liste déjà bien fournie Mia Wasikowska ( Alice au pays des merveilles ), Riley Keough ( Mad Max : Fury Road ), Jason Clarke ( HHhH , La Planète des Singes : l’Affrontement ) ou encore Harry Melling ( Harry Potter à l’école des sorciers ). Netflix a piocher dans le MCU puisqu’en plus de Tom Holland, on retrouvera aussi Sebastian Stan qui campe le soldat de l’hiver dans la saga Marvel.

    Ce drame est adapté du roman éponyme de Donald Ray Pollock et sera visiblement un film à sketchs, comme La Balade de Buster Scruggs avant lui. En plus de Williard Russer et de son fils, le film suivra Carl et Sandy Henderson, un couple étrange qui écume les routes et enlève des auto-stoppeurs.Il y aura aussi Roy, un prédicateur convaincu d’avoir le pouvoir de réveiller les morts, et Théodore, son acolyte musicien en fauteuil roulant. La réalisation du film a été confiée à Antonio Campos, à qui l’on doit notamment AfterSchool et quelques épisodes de la série Sinner . Selon Entertainment Weekly , le tournage a eu lieu en Alabama. Pour découvrir The Devil All The Time , il faudra patienter jusqu’au 16 septembre prochain sur Netflix .
