Go sight seeing in the American Truck Simulator - Colorado expansion out now

      Liam Dawe · news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Saturday, 14 November, 2020 - 20:28 · 2 minutes

SCS Software continue to expand where we can go trucking with the American Truck Simulator - Colorado expansion out now and it looks like it has some good sights to see.

This is probably one of the bigger DLCs that has been released, which includes tons of areas to drive through like the Million Dollar Highway. A rather special bit of road the stretches around 25 miles, often said to be one of the most beautiful drives in the states where you get views of mountains, valleys and gorges and more. For many of us stuck at home during the COVID19 pandemic, it sounds like something worth exploring.

    Highlights:

    • Forget about the real world in vastness of the Great Plains
    • Roam through the Rocky Mountains
    • Haul cargo on the Million Dollar Highway
    • Discover Colorado's important industries like agriculture and a gold mine
    • Deliver freight to and from the inside of a large cargo aircraft in Denver International Airport
    • Admire accurate representation of cities like Denver and Colorado Springs
    • Visit landmarks like the Four Corners Monument and get a bird's-eye view on it with the viewpoint feature
    • Unlock Colorado-specific Steam achievements

To celebrate the release, they're doing another of those huge community events on their World of Trucks service that you can hook up to your in-game profile. It's a really sweet feature, that allows players to feel part of something bigger while it being a single-player game and it keeps things nicely chilled-out. The Cruising Colorado event will see players come together to drive a total of 60,000,000 miles (96,560,640 km) while delivering cargo of any kind to or from anywhere in Colorado. Everything counts and if you participate these are the rewards you can expect:

    • Personal goal: Players that deliver cargo to or from each of the 13 Colorado cities will gain a personal World of Trucks Achievement and an impressive Rocky Mountain Bighorn themed ATS truck paint job Steam inventory item.
    • Community goal: When the community goal of driving 60,000,000 miles (96,560,640 km) during deliveries to or from any of the 13 cities in Colorado is met, and if the player has also achieved their personal goal, then they will receive a hanging Rocky Rodeo Gem ornament Steam inventory item.

You can buy American Truck Simulator from Humble Store and Steam .

Graveyard Keeper - Game Of Crone expansion is out now

      Liam Dawe · news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Tuesday, 27 October, 2020 - 19:22 · 1 minute

Graveyard Keeper - Game Of Crone is an expansion to the medieval graveyard building and management sim that's like a morbid take on Stardew. This fresh expansion adds in another bunch of hours (6-12 they said approximately) to play through, along with a whole new story to follow where you help a bunch of escaped prisoners build up a camp.

"You’ll have to help the escaped prisoners of the Inquisition survive in the wilderness by providing them with everything they need. To develop their camp to a fortified settlement while keeping in mind its benefits. To protect those who entrusted you with their lives, from the sword and fire. And also - to untangle the circumstances of the cruel game, which turned into the Great Blast and the return of the Ancient Curse."

Check out the launcher trailer below:

    Feature Highlight:

    • Brand new bag mechanics
    • Get access to new dishes, gravestones, fences, and to teleportation scrolls
    • Deal with a vampire terrorizing a peaceful Village
    • Unravel the secret of the mysterious death of your predecessor
    • Find out even more terrible secrets of your old and new friends
    • Become an ally of Comrade Donkey and take part in the Revolution

They said that the DLC can be access from both the beginning and end of the game, so you can't miss out on it by accident or by where you are in the game with current saves. There's also new achievements, bug fixes and improvements to the main game have been released in a patch, and there's some new music too which they've added to the existing soundtrack.

You can buy the game and the DLC from GOG , Humble Store and Steam .

Avorion - Black Market expansion is due on November 2, has a new trailer up

      Liam Dawe · news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Tuesday, 27 October, 2020 - 13:51 · 1 minute

The huge open-world space sandbox Avorion has the first expansion releasing on November 2, along with plenty more details revealed and a trailer.

It's going to include quite a lot of extra content for those who wants it. Avorion already had a huge open world with lots to do, and you can spend hours in it easily thanks to the deep ship-building mechanics. This expansion is aimed it those who want more story and more game mechanics overall though with 20 new story missions, side-missions and events. There's a new hacking ability, a Black Market to trade at with illegal and stolen space goods along with weapons and upgrades only found there. On top of that there's The Convoy story event, that has a huge convoy attempt an expedition towards the center of the galaxy and you can choose to join or fight it.

You can see the exciting new trailer below:

    youtube video thumbnail
    Watch video on YouTube.com

When the expansion becomes available, a big free update for everyone will be released too which is currently in an opt-in Beta for testing on Steam. This will bring all players in Avorion a number of advancements including:

    • Docking - Ships can dock to other objects and fly around with them
    • New ship controls / communications like bribes and inspections
    • The RTS style Strategy Mode got some huge improvements
    • Legendary Weapons - need we say more?
    • Visual Improvements
    • Performance Improvements
    • Bugfixes

They also confirmed all players can play together, regardless of owning DLC or not. Some DLC-specific events can be played by all players, as long as someone with the DLC is around to start it too. Seems like a pretty great way to ensure your community can stay together. That's if you play it online anyway, it can be played entirely solo.

If you want a space sandbox to play by yourself or with others, one that supports Linux then you should absolutely take a look at Avorion.

You can buy Avorion on Humble Store and Steam .

      Liam Dawe · news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Tuesday, 27 October, 2020 - 12:38 · 1 minute

Iratus: Wrath of the Necromancer is the brand new expansion to Iratus: Lord of the Dead, the pretty good reverse dungeon crawler where you control evil forces trying to make their way to the surface.

For those that missed it, the base game Iratus: Lord of the Dead added Linux support along with the 1.0 release back in April 2020 . Giving a similar style to the likes of Darkest Dungeon, without the brutal difficulty and much more of a turn-based dungeon crawling battler than anything else. Iratus: Wrath of the Necromancer builds upon all that and just boosts the available content to keep you going, trailer below:

The latest expansion pack for Stellaris arrives on October 29 and it's going to get a little spooky with the Necroids Species Pack. Diving into the darker side of the galaxy, the expansion comes with as you prepare to meet the Necroids, an intelligent species who believe that death is not the end, but rather the beginning of their journey.

        • Reanimated Armies: Allows the deployment of morality-immune, undead armies
        • Memorialists: Erects monuments to the galaxy’s past, improving planetary stability and honouring tomb worlds

    • New Name lists

On top of the expansion release, the Linux port is now also actually up to date too with the 1.6.1 update from the Windows version which we've been missing since the end of August. Deal with Wardrobe Malfunction in the upcoming Two Point Hospital: Culture Shock

      Liam Dawe · news.movim.eu / GamingOnLinux · Wednesday, 14 October, 2020 - 12:00 · 1 minute

Lights! Camera! Scalpel? SEGA and Two Point Studios have a pretty amusing sounding DLC on the way with Two Point Hospital: Culture Shock. Releasing October 20, this new expansion turns things up a notch with the most illnesses included than any of their previous DLC packs.

"Face televisual shenanigans at Plywood Studios as you look to launch a hit medical drama with washed-up film star Roderick Cushion. Head to Mudbury Festival and grab lyrical headlines with musical headliners while serving burgers from questionable vans. Finally, savour the affluent aromas of high society life at Zara’s very own Fitzpocket Academy. Socialise, hobnob, and boost that VIBE darling, because if you don’t who will?"

    youtube video thumbnail

    Feature Highlight:

    • 3 fabulous new locations
    • 3 new, fully animated cure machines
    • 12 new visual illnesses
    • 36 new illnesses in total
    • New gameplay
    • New music, DJ and tannoy lines

These new illnesses will include some nicely themed issues like: Stunt Trouble, Wardrobe Malfunction, Writer’s Block, Square Eyes, Fourthwall Problem, Stage Hand and so on. I bet they had a lot of fun coming up with all the different names this time. It's just a shame that once again, only a small set of them are visually new. Still, more of a good thing is always nice to see and Two Point Hospital is great.
